Paris:  France’s highest administration court on Friday suspended a ban on the Islamic burkini swimming brought by French Rivera after it was challenged by right groups

The court said local authorities did have the power to restrict individual liberties.

The case before the court concerned the French Riviera resort of Villeneuve Loubet one of around 30 towns which have passed burkini bans.

Police have fined Muslim woman for wearing burkinis on the beaches in the town including in the Renowned Rivera resort of nice and cannes – AFP
